Ancelotti’s plan for the Champions League final

The satisfaction was complete in the dressing room of the Real Madrid after the derby. Not because they lost, but because no player ended up injured. And that is the slogan in the remaining matches for Real Madrid before the Champions League final against Liverpool, on May 28 in Paris.

“The priority was to avoid risks,” he confessed. Ancelotti after the game and those risks is to physically burden the players and thus not risk untimely injuries. The Real Madrid coach’s plan could be seen at the Metropolitano. Any tired player is not going to play. It’s what happened with Benzema y Modric. The first was not going to play and the second played the last minutes of the match.

Ancelotti is going to rotate against Levante, this Thursday, and Cádiz, on Sunday. He doesn’t want his players to lose their competitive rhythm thinking about the final, but he isn’t going to give them more minutes than necessary either. And always with the premise that even if any hint of injury, discomfort, to the bench or out of the call.

The Real Madrid coach himself had no problem revealing that against Levante, he is going to put those who played the least against Atlético de Madrid. That is Benzema, Vinicius, Modric or Mendy They will be headlines. Against Cádiz, the same thing will happen, those who play the least against Levante will be the starters.

Then there will be a week without midweek games that Ancelotti will use to finish polishing the details of the final, both on a tactical and physical level. The match against Betis, the last in LaLiga for Real Madrid, will be the dress rehearsal for the eleven that Ancelotti will put on against Liverpool.

The Real Madrid coach is waiting for the ‘touches’ he has. Alaba is in the final stretch of recovery and could even start working this week with the group, the same as Hazard e Isco. On the other hand, Ceballos and Marcelo have to recover from their muscle injuries, just like Bale with his back problems.
