Ancelotti's Everton, fifth after knocking down Leicester

Brendan Rodgers' Leicester went from third to fourth in the Premier table on Wednesday after their defeat this Wednesday at the King Power Stadium against Carlo Ancelotti's Everton (0-2), without the injured James Rodríguez. The 'Foxes' have the same points as the great revelation, Southampton, but the 'Saints' occupy third place thanks to goal difference. The defeat is a blow to Leicester's options of attempting to fight for the title.

Richarlison in the 21st minute and Mason Holgate in the 72nd decided for Everton. On the play of the Goodison Park team's first goal, the Brazilian striker entered from the left and surprised Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel with a powerful low kick.

Schmeichel cleared the ball after a Michael Keane header. Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit the crossbar and the fumble was used by Holgate to score Everton's second goal.

At Leicester the referee whistled a penalty from André Gomes on Ayoze Pérez. But, after consulting with the VAR, no maximum penalty was indicated. It is Everton's fourth victory in seven away games in the present Premier and allows them to rise to fifth place. Leicester fell back into the same defensive problems that already led them to lose at home to Fulham, Aston Villa or West Ham.
