MADRID, 19 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted that his team could have started LaLiga EA Sports “much better” than in the 1-1 draw against Mallorca this Sunday, although he is confident that he will have a good lesson to “learn” by being clear about “the problem.”
“We started the game well, we got ahead. Then, we had the chance to score the second. In the second half we lacked balance, it was a game where we could have lost, because we had no balance at the back,” he said at a press conference in Son Moix after the first match of the League.
“We managed to counterattack, but it wasn’t a good game. It was a clear game, we have to defend better. We are a very offensive team but balance is a fundamental part,” he added.
The Italian coach pointed out that his team was divided, not very united when it came to the defensive task of pressing and recovering balls with all the players going in the same direction. “The team was too open, we had to concentrate more, be more together. It is not a physical or mental problem,” he said.
“Mallorca played a very good game, defensively in this aspect, better than us,” added Ancelotti, who explained that Mbappé and Vinícius can exchange positions, and that he will make more rotations when the Champions League starts.
“Last year I was happy with a draw, today I’m not happy, we could have done much better. I don’t want any excuses for anything. We had to do better, with more attitude, we can learn a lot from this game. It was a game that clearly shows where we could have a problem,” he concluded.
