“We are slowly returning to our best version”

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised his team’s good, “rock and roll” performance in the comeback (4-1) against Espanyol this Saturday in the sixth round of LaLiga EA Sports, to “little by little return” to its “best version”.
“I thought it was a good game. We started well, we reacted well after Espanyol’s goal. It was a complete game, we played better, with more rhythm, more opportunities. I’m happy,” he said in a press conference after the match at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“We played faster, we made some better moves, we covered the area well. Mobility, as always, is a very important weapon. These are resources that we have to have, we had many shots on goal, we have to be satisfied,” he added.
The Whites’ coach praised his team’s good progress. “We are slowly returning to our best form. In the first half we played a lot because the defence was closed. We tried to combine inside. The second half, when the game opened up, suited us well, it was a rock and roll game today,” he said.
On the other hand, the Italian coach reassured the physical condition of Dani Carvajal, who suffered “a knock”, and of Jude Bellingham, who has removed his shoulder protection and also suffered a knock that should not be “a problem”.
Ancelotti also described the yellow cards his players are receiving for protesting as “severe”, although he acknowledged that this is the norm this season, and highlighted his team’s current good run of form. “We have scored only one goal in the first half of matches, which is surprising, I have spoken about it with the players before the match. The dynamic has not changed but it has been a much more intense first half. 38 games without losing is a very good statistic that confirms that this team is doing very well,” he confessed.
On the other hand, the Madrid coach pointed out that Endrick has to be patient to get minutes. “On the one hand it’s unfair, on the other hand there are Rodrygo, Mbappé, Vinícius in front of him, it’s necessary for him to be a little patient,” he concluded.
