The captain of the Spanish team of the Billie Jean King Cup, Anabel Medina, has assured that the “union” shown by her players invites her to think that they can win the title in the Finals, for which they have obtained the ticket this Saturday after overcoming against Mexico (3-0) in their tie at the Puente Romano Club de Tenis de Marbella (Málaga).
“Since I am captain, 13 players have passed through the team, out of 14 qualifiers we have won 11, we are the third country in the world… Spain has the ability to win the Billie Jean King Cup because today it has been shown that the union of a team a long time ago,” he said at a press conference.
The Valencian explained that the result against the Mexicans has been “very bulky” and perhaps “it has not been the reality of what has happened on the track.” “Now, on paper, it seems that this was logical, that Spain had to win and that it does not have so much merit. This tie has been won because a very good job has been done from the beginning,” she insisted.

I trust all the players who go through for the team and that they face the competition in this way. They are aware that we are a group, that those who play and those who don’t, all participate. Regarding the venue for the Finals, Medina acknowledged that “there is a possibility that it will be played in Andalusia.” “We would be very excited. We have been playing away from home for three years, the feeling of playing away makes us sad, not being able to have family and friends nearby. Playing at home would be spectacular. We like it better on this stage, on clay and at outdoors, but the girls are evolving more and more on this surface”, he pointed out.
