Ana Duato explodes and assures that she feels “defenseless” before the Treasury: “They do not give me the opportunity to defend myself”

The legal action of Ana Duato e Imanol Arias with the Treasury remains unresolved seven years after they were accused of alleged tax fraud through the Nummaria law firm. While waiting for the oral trial, the date of which is still unknown, the protagonist of Tell me how it happened he has raised his voice.

“I cannot understand how someone like me, who has always paid their taxes and who does not owe a penny to the Treasury, has been in this situation for so many years,” the Valencian lamented in The reason.

On the other hand, she considers that she has not had the opportunity to defend herself before the trial: “Of course I feel defenseless. If they don’t call me to testify, they don’t give me the opportunity to defend myself.” She already testified at the National Court on June 15, 2016, but not after four other alleged tax crimes were charged against her. According to her legal team, for these reasons she “was never asked or called to the process during the investigation.”

In this sense, Duato adds: “I am not going to play the victim. The Treasury has already recognized its error, so I hope that the prosecutor puts an end to this endless drama.” It must be remembered that, a few months ago, the Treasury annulled a fine of 500,000 euros, since she had already paid that amount in 2016: “They have destroyed my family life,” the interpreter lamented then.

Both Ana and her co-star Imanol are pending trial at the National Court. Although the two have shown their intention to regularize their situation with the Public Treasury and have already paid a large part of what was defrauded between 2010-2012 and 2014-2017, they were unable to reach an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office and they will finally sit on the defendant’s bench. They face around thirty years in prison each. Along with them, Duato’s husband, the television producer, is also accused Michelangelo Bernardeauand the sister of Arias.

Professionally, they have already recorded the last season of Tell menumber 23, which RTVE reported will be broadcast throughout this year.
