An erratic Villarreal ‘clicks’ in Cádiz and Valladolid triumphs in the madness of the Coliseum

MADRID, 1 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Villarreal could not pass the draw (0-0) against Cádiz this Saturday after a duel in which the lack of success was the protagonist in both areas, in the third consecutive game without winning the ‘Submarino’, while Valladolid He woke up against Getafe to close his opaque balance in the last days and stop the good dynamics with which the ‘azulón’ team arrived.

The ‘Submarino’ is still immersed in doubts after adding its third consecutive game without winning in LaLiga Santander, with the tie (0-0) against Cádiz this Sunday. A duel in which the Catalans were very erratic in front of goal, despite the large number of chances they enjoyed in the 90 minutes.

The good league start of Emery’s men, who became leaders, with the 0-2 at the Metropolitano against Atlético as a turning point, is long gone. And it is that they began the duel against Cádiz with a good rhythm and enjoying enough opportunities to have opened the can. On the other hand, the Andalusians played a much more intense and direct game, with an improved version after the victory against Valladolid on the last day.

Emery’s men, who finished the match with 14 shots, six of them on goal, knew how to be patient based on long possessions and wanting the ball. Both teams were able to get ahead, but the goalkeepers, especially Gerónimo Rulli, would be the protagonists with high-level interventions that saved their teams until the break. A somewhat misleading 0-0, since both teams were able to score, although Villarreal had the clearest.

The dominance of the people from Castellón intensified in the second half, with Cádiz more stuck in construction and crouched in their field. Sergio González moved the bench giving entry to Choco Lozano, Lucas Pérez and Álex Fernández, in a success of the coach, who managed to shake up the duel with the changes.

As of 60′, Cádiz grew and got closer than ever to the goal defended by Rulli with Villarreal locked up in their field. The most dangerous occasions were for the locals, who, like the ‘Submarino’, were not successful in front of goal, also frustrated by the interventions of the Argentine goalkeeper.

Emery tried to stop the Andalusian barrage with the changes, without much success. However, Villarreal had the last one in Danjuma’s boots, in a one-on-one against Ledesma, when Iza grabbed him causing him to be expelled, so that the duel ended with the final 0-0. This tie leaves Villarreal fifth in the table with 12 points, still in European positions, while Cádiz remains penultimate with four points.

VALLADOLID WAKES UP AGAINST GETAFE WITH MASIP AS HERO

In Getafe-Valladolid, the blanquivioleta goalkeeper Jordi Masip dressed as a hero in the second half to defend the 2-3 in favor until the end and add the second victory of Pacheta’s men this season. The pucelanos went ahead with a goal from Sergio León from a penalty in the 20th minute, to lay the first stone of the hard-fought match that would end up culminating in the Coliseum.

Getafe only took nine minutes to respond with a goal from a Borja Mayoral who was very active and was one of the best of the locals. In the 31st minute, the people from Madrid completed the momentary comeback thanks to a goal from Damián Suárez that restored tranquility and joy to the ‘azulón’ fiefdom. However, Valladolid did not disconnect from the match and was able to wake up in time to make it 2-2 just before the break with Sergio León’s double, after a good assist from Kike Pérez behind Gastón Álvarez.

After a crazy first half and with a match tied after all kinds of blows, Valladolid gave what would be the final hook with a shot from Óscar Plano to make it 2-3 and silence the Coliseum. Gonzalo Plata was able to sentence before 60′, but Getafe, already with Arambarri injured, had the clearest chance in the boots of Enes Ünal and a penalty, but Jordi Masip guessed the direction to save his team.

Getafe drowned Valladolid from there, very involved in their field. Mayoral had a couple of dangerous ones, but the Masip wall was insurmountable and the third consecutive victory. The ‘azulones’ are fourteenth with seven points, one place above Valladolid, which is moving away from relegation with the same units.
