Amancio Amaro has passed away this Tuesday, February 21 at the age of 83, as confirmed by Real Madrid, of which he was honorary president. The former player assumed that position to replace Paco Gento, who died in January 2022.

The Galician joined the Madrid team in 1962 and stayed until 1976, forming part of the famous ‘ye-yé’ team that won the sixth European Cup in 1966, in which they scored 1-1 in the final against Partizán. In addition, he won twelve more titles, divided between nine Leagues and three Cups.
