Amaia Gorostiza: “The Eibar project goes ahead”

The president of the SD Eibar, Amaia Gorostiza, has affirmed this Monday that, despite the demotion, the project of the Gipuzkoan club “continues” and that they are already working to achieve promotion next year.

Gorostiza and the company's CEO, Jon Ander Ulazia, today took stock of the Barça club's season just ended, which ended with their relegation to the Second Division, after having spent seven uninterrupted seasons in the top flight.

Amaia Gorostiza stressed that the Council that directs the club's destinies can “assure” that they are “working” to return “again” to Primera and that the project “continues.”

Gorostiza pointed out that everyone was aware that this day could come, but that “it does not stop being painful for that.”

“What we all want,” explained the president, “is to return to the First Division as quickly as possible and we are working on it.”

He also had a memory for the current sports director, Fran Garagarza, and the technical secretary, Mikel Martija, who end their contracts on June 30 and will not renew. “They deserve the utmost respect and admiration for the work they have done over the years,” said Amaia Gorostiza.

He also recognized that Eibar is not the same club as “8 years ago”, before achieving promotion to the top flight of Spanish football for the first time in its history, and that they have used this period of time to create “foundations” for when a moment like the descent came.

Ulazia asks for unity in order to return to First

For his part, Jon Ander Ulazia pointed out that the gunsmith club is the result of the work of a group and it is not necessary to look for a “culprit” for the decline, since the entire entity is “responsible”. He also explained that Eibar's objective is “clear”, but that it cannot “go crazy” and that to achieve it “unity” is necessary and also to be fully aware of “who” they are and “where” the gunsmith club comes from.

He also thought that Eibar has to manage the newly released team tag well in the Second Division, while insisting on the importance of staying together.
