Álvaro Bautista is proclaimed two-time Superbike world champion

MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Álvaro Bautista (Ducati) has been proclaimed world champion of Superbikes -WorldSBK- for the second consecutive time after winning the first race of the weekend at the Jerez-Ángel Nieto Circuit, where he has obtained the two points that remained to revalidate the title.

Bautista, Aruba.it Racing-Ducati rider, tried to open a gap from the beginning in a race in which his main rival for the title, the Turkish Toprak Razgatlioglu (Yamaha), who started seventh, climbed to second place in just two turns.

Only a victory for the Ottoman would avoid the surge from Talavera de la Reina, who managed to increase his lead little by little to win by just over a second after slowing down in the last lap. Razgatlioglu was finally second.

Thus, with his 25th victory of the season, Bautista becomes the first Ducati rider to retain the title since Carl Fogarty, who won in 1998 and 1999. The Spaniard adds this success to last year’s title and that of world champion of 125 cc achieved in 2006.
