Alonso: “It was a comfortable sixth place”

MADRID, 24 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) was “very happy” this Sunday after finishing in sixth place in the French Grand Prix race, “the maximum” for the French team this weekend.

“I’m very happy, it’s the most we could do, with a good race pace. It was a comfortable sixth place,” the Asturian celebrated in statements on Dazn.

The Spaniard started from seventh position at the start and completed a very solid race to achieve a meritorious sixth place at Alpine’s ‘home’. Thus, the eight points of the Spaniard and the four of his teammate, Esteban Ocon, allow them to overtake McLaren in the team classification, so that the French team occupies fourth place.

“We have that fight with McLaren in the Constructors’ World Championship, in the race it seemed that we could keep up with them, we are happy for today,” said the Spanish driver, tenth in the World Cup.
