MADRID, 26 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) assured that the first days of preseason at the Circuit de Catalunya have been “productive” despite the hydraulic problem last Friday, which prevented the two-time world champion from completing his test program.
The Asturian stopped at turn 13 after a hydraulic problem frustrated the third day of pre-season for the Alpine A522. Alonso got out of the car amid fire and smoke and the session concluded for the French team, who preferred to save their bullets for Bahrain.
“Productive first days with the car,” Alonso wrote on his Instagram account. “Now we have to focus on Bahrain in two weeks,” added the Spaniard, who will only ride once more before the start of the Formula 1 World Championship, which will start on March 20 at the Sakhir circuit.
Before the breakdown, Alonso completed two good tests with many kilometres, being the second driver with the most laps in Montmeló and achieving the eighth best time last Wednesday. The Alpine driver even improved on Thursday morning and highlighted the “reliability” of the new single-seater a few weeks before the start of the competition.
