Almodóvar congratulates Meryl Streep: “She does everything naturally and truthfully, she is a very worthy recipient of the award”

The director, 2006 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, proposed Streep’s candidacy for this great recognition. With three Oscars, eight Golden Globes, two BAFTAs, three Emmys and a career spanning more than 40 years, she is considered one of the best contemporary performers.

His immense filmography includes titles such as Kramer contra Kramer (1979), The French Lieutenant’s Wife, Sophie’s Choice, Out of Africa; from S. Pollack (1985), and a scream in the dark (1988). She gave life to one of his most emblematic characters in The bridges of Madisonin 1995. More recently, he has starred in the musical Oh mama! y The woman of ironin the role of Margaret Thatcher, which earned her a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and her third Oscar.
