Almirón awaits FIFA accreditation to process his license

Elche CF has sent the RFEF all the documentation required to process Jorge Almirón's license as a first team technician. The Federation, as confirmed by the club's management, has given approval to the Argentine coach's professional experience and is now awaiting confirmation from FIFA to register his file.

Jorge Almirón could not train in Spain in his two previous attempts: in Las Palmas, at the end of 2017, and in Vigo, at Celta, in mid-2018. The problem was that he had not proven his training to acquire the title, nor had he demonstrated his experience of at least five years in professional clubs of national associations affiliated to FIFA.

Since then, Almirón has managed three teams: Atlético Nacional, San Lorenzo de Almagro and Al-Shabab Riyadh of the United Arab Emirates. The six months that he was in San Lorenzo, in the AFA, should serve to close this setback and allow Almirón to sit on the bench at the Martínez Valero stadium, on the third day of the First Division, against Real Sociedad.

The regulations governing Spanish football coaches state that coaches who have obtained their qualifications abroad, with the exception of national associations with agreements with UEFA Licenses, may practice their profession if they have the equivalent title or if they have practiced five years or more in teams of the highest category. Accreditation must be obtained from the Technical Committee of Referees of the Spanish Federation, but also from the UEFA Jira Panel, which is the body that authorizes and trains any coach from outside the continent to work in Europe.

Almirón has extensive experience as a professional coach in different teams in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and the United Arab Emirates, where he last directed. On Saturday he will sit on the bench at the Nou Camp to lead Elche against FC Barcelona, ​​as it is a friendly, in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
