MADRID, 19 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Almería weakened its status as leader in the SmartBank League after falling against Lugo (2-1) in a match corresponding to matchday 21 of the silver category, scheduled at the end of the first round, but postponed at the time due to an outbreak of coronavirus in the Galician team.
At the Anxo Carro stadium, the team led by Rubén Albes took the lead after 4 minutes with a goal from Manu Barreiro and sentenced the victory in the middle of the first act with a goal from Chris Ramos. The Andalusians replied very quickly but the VAR annulled a goal from Babic ten minutes before the break.
In the last breath, Rubi’s men did manage to close the gap on the scoreboard with a goal from Pita in their own goal, but they no longer had time to scratch –at least one point– during their visit to Lugo. Juampe ended up expelled at the premises but the 2-1 did not move. Almería continues to lead with three points ahead of Valladolid and Eibar, while Lugo is thirteenth.
