MADRID 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Almería closed 2024 in the lead of LaLiga Hypermotion, winter champion after the first round, by drawing (1-1) this Sunday against Cádiz, in a matchday 21 in which Mirandés thrashed (0-4) in Riazor to be second and Racing de Santander did not emerge from its crisis in a 2-2 against Eldense.
The derby at the UD Almería Stadium had tension and controversy, and Cádiz took the lead through Javier Ontiveros in the first half. A much protested penalty allowed Luis Suárez to tie at the hour mark and the visitors finished with one less due to the expulsion of Ontiveros himself, with Almería close to a comeback.
With the point, there are 12 consecutive days for Rubi’s team, the red and white are the sole leaders with 39 points compared to the 38 of Mirandés and Racing. For its part, Cádiz remains unbeaten in three games under Gaizka Garitano, but it does not escape the relegation zone either, just two points above.
Meanwhile, Mirandés overcame Dépor with a hat-trick from Izeta, the visitors far superior against a Galician team that had good dynamics and had just beaten Castellón. For its part, Racing de Santander suffered a painful draw when it led 2-0 five minutes from the end. José Alberto’s men scored again after five games without doing so, but Eldense tied through Ricardo Grigore and Ropero. Thus, Racing extended the crisis due to which it lost the leadership although thanks to the income it is still in the fight for direct promotion.
In addition, Elche is fourth and continues its progression towards those first two places thanks to a 0-2 against Castellón. The seventh consecutive matchday of Eder Sarabia’s team took place in the first half, very effectively, when goals from Mourad and Bigas arrived. For its part, Levante saved the undefeated Ciudad de Valencia with a great goal from Andrés García in the last play, a 1-1 that earned Huesca the chance to remain in the ‘Top 6’, one point behind the ‘granotas’.
