The midfielder of the Juventus, Weston McKennie (23), will miss the rest of the club’s season. The player from Fort Lewis, Washington, broke two bones in his left foot during a Champions League match against Villarreal on February 22 when Pervis Estupiñán tackled him hard.
Juventus originally projected McKennie’s recovery time at 8-9 weeks, but it’s going to be a bit longer. “The season is over for Weston because of his injury,” manager Massimiliano Allegri announced after Sunday’s 1-0 win over Spezia. “He will be back next season.”
Juventus closes the Serie A season on May 21 against Fiorentina. The 2022-23 season begins the second weekend of August. McKennie will miss the last three World Cup qualifiers in the United States, from March 24-30.
