All the Montevideo teams test negative in the COVID-19 test

Players and other employees of the 13 teams from Montevideo of the First Division of Uruguayan soccer who underwent a COVID-19 test were negative and confirmation is expected from the three teams in the interior of the country.

This is confirmed by the member of the Executive Committee of the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) Jorge Casales, who highlighted the work done by the governing body of Uruguayan football in conjunction with the teams to complete this first phase of the return to activity.

The AUF carried out 720 COVID-19 tests in conjunction with the mutual Spanish Association throughout the week. Although most were done at the Centenario stadium, some teams chose to do it on their own with private laboratories.

Although he could not confirm it, Casales he indicated that he has the information that the tests to the teams from the interior of the country Plaza Colonia and Deportivo Maldonado gave negatives while the last to be known will be Cerro Largo, because the last part of the tests will be done between Monday and Tuesday.

Thus, The training of the Uruguayan soccer First Division teams will return on June 15 and the return of official activity is expected on August 15Although the footballers union wants this to be changed and the tournament returns on August 1.

The Opening Tournament Uruguayan has been suspended since March 13, when Luis Lacalle Pou's government declared a health emergency in the South American country. The competition had three disputed dates and the leader was the modest Rentistas, recently promoted to First Division, with 9 points.

This Saturday Uruguay completed its third consecutive day without new cases of coronavirus and since the pandemic reached the country, 847 positive cases were detected (only 40 are currently carrying the disease) and 23 died.
