“At first Isabella Preysler she was my enemy. When my father died I came to hate her“said the daughter of Miguel Boyer to the magazine Week. Laura never looked kindly on her father’s relationship with the queen of hearts. She defined it as “A cold, very cold, very calculating woman…“.

The former Minister of Economy and Finance in the Government of Felipe González left the mother of his eldest children, Dr. Elena Arnedo, by Isabel in the eighties, after more than twenty years of marriage: “My mother told us. The wedding came in 1987 and Boyer increasingly distanced himself from his children: “When he married Isabel, my father saw my brother [Miguel] and me alone, in a restaurant, and for a short time… Later, we would meet at the house in Puerta de Hierro, and I remember that we sat in front of a horrible painting of Isabel that made me panic“.

For her, Isabel was largely to blame for the distance between father and children: “He excused himself by saying that the heart has reasons that reason does not understand. Don’t think he didn’t realize…“. In this sense, she was quite clear: “For me, Isabel is a hyper-possessive person, who pushed my father away“.

On the other hand, he said that the Filipina did not help Boyer as a result of the stroke he suffered in 2012, marking his last two years of life: “In my opinion, she didn’t take care of him at all, she put a lot of people to take care of him, but she didn’t take care of him“.

Laura, she acknowledged, came to feel hatred against Preysler when her father died in September 2014: “Not before. While he lived, he only had her as an enemy.” The relationship that the two had for a few years was quite cold: “I have had a relationship with Isabel, but with a lot of hypocrisy“.

Laura died at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid, two and a half years after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After a very tough treatment with radiation and chemotherapy, Laura decided to stop taking the medication and face her end with serenity, but she had time to say goodbye to her four children, who were watching over her all the time, and to decide that she wanted to be buried in the cemetery. de San Isidro, along with his father, who died in 2014. He gave up his father’s inheritance

In her posthumous interview, Laura also spoke of her father’s inheritance, which she ended up rejecting: “I gave it up. They only asked me for money and gave me a bust and some Madrid guides. The bust weighed more than it was worth. So between the expense of taking it with me and the medical expenses that they claimed, I decided to go to a notary and sign the waiver”.
