MADRID, 12 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish players of FC Barcelona Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí have been nominated this Friday for the 2022 women’s Ballon d’Or, according to the list published by L’Equipe, organizer of the award, which has offered a final list of 20 candidates.

Alexia Putellas, current holder of the Ballon d’Or, repeats in the list of possible winners in which is also her partner Aitana Bonmatí, whose final stretch of the course has been key to be in the nomination. In fact, the culé player was part of UEFA’s ideal eleven in the last European Championship.

In fact, Barça is the only club that has players on the list to win the next Ballon d’Or. In addition to Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí, there is also the English Lucy Bronze, recently signed by the Blaugrana, as well as the Nigerian Asisat Oshoala, best African of the year, and the Swedish Fridolina Rolfö.

Apart from Spanish football, it is England, current continental champion, and France, who dominate the list of 20 candidates. Among those chosen, three British: Beth Mead, voted best player of the tournament, along with defenders Millie Bright and the aforementioned Lucy Bronze. Of the French there are four: Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Kadidiatou Diani, Selma Bacha and Wendie Renard.

Germany, finalists of last EURO, have two candidates, with the best young player of the European Championship, Lena Oberdorf, and the goalscorer Alexandra Popp, while the Norwegian Ada Hegerberg, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2018, returns to the list after his good season at Olympique de Lyon.

Also noteworthy is the nomination of the American Trinity Rodman, daughter of the legendary basketball player, who is the youngest footballer of those mentioned (20). On the opposite side is his compatriot Alex Morgan, 33 years old, third in the 2019 Ballon d’Or.
