Álex Márquez: “The Circuit is an opportunity to take a step forward”

BARCELONA, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

MotoGP rider Álex Márquez (LCR Honda) acknowledged that the Catalunya Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is an “opportunity to take a step forward” and start making improvements to his Honda that translate into better positions and more points in the World Cup.

“There have been years in which we have arrived with better feelings than this time, but racing at the Circuit is always special. It is an opportunity to take a step forward and, like in Portimao, change a bit the dynamics of the year we have had” , pointed out in statements provided by Estrella Galicia 0.0.

The pilot from Cervera, ambassador of the brewery, assured that at no time did he lower his arms. “We have not stopped fighting and insisting and we will continue to do so because it is the DNA that we carry inside. I am really looking forward to it and hopefully we can have a good weekend,” he predicted.

“I’ve won three times on this circuit, so I already know what it’s like to experience it here as well as with the fans,” he said about his successful past in Montmeló. “The Circuit is another dimension, to put it another way. Hopefully we’ll be good at it, we’ll go out with a ‘spark’ and we can enjoy the weekend,” he reiterated.

The little one of the Márquez is looking, right now, for better sensations more than a result. “It’s the feeling that needs to improve, but being in the top eight would be a very good result for us after these last few races. Going back to where we were in Portimao I think would be very positive,” he said.

“The sensations have not changed much. It is true that we have tried things, but many have not worked and we have gone back. We have advanced, but less than what we would have liked in Honda, our team and myself, but on Monday we will have a very important test in which we will test new components for the future”, he commented on the changes that may come to Honda from this appointment.

MARC’S INJURY, WITH A SOLUTION

As for his brother Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda Team), who must undergo surgery –this Thursday– for the fourth time for his right shoulder, he said that “he is fine”. “He already said it himself, that he took a weight off his shoulders, in the end the operation is peace of mind for him,” he said.

“For many months he has been trying to get back to his level, but he always had a lot of limitations, a lot of pain and he was always worried,” he lamented, in this regard.

And, despite being a fourth operation, Álex assured that his brother knows that “he has a solution.” “The operation is the price you have to pay for the pain to go away, but the feeling of enjoying the bike again is priceless”, he was honest.
