Alex de Minaur reigns in Acapulco

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Australian tennis player Alex de Miñaur has won the Acapulco (Mexico) tournament this morning, in the ATP 500 category and played on hard courts, after coming back in the final against American Tommy Paul (3-6, 6-4, 6-1 ), for which he lifts the seventh and greatest title of his career.

A solitary ‘break’ in the fourth game allowed the American, number 23 in the ATP ranking, to take the first set. The ‘Aussie’ tennis player, number 22 in the world, responded in the second round with a break to make it 4-2, and although his opponent reacted with a ‘counterbreak’, he took another break in the last game to balance the contest .

The oceanic player resisted five ‘break’ balls in the game that opened the third set, and that gave him the strength to link four consecutive games won. On his third match point, he closed the game after two hours and 27 minutes of play.

Thus, the third Australian finalist in Acapulco becomes the second champion of his country, after Nick Kyrgios won the title in 2019.
