Alejandro Valverde: “It could be better, I’m still scared and wanting to forget it”

BARCELONA, 6 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Alejandro Valverde stressed that “he could be better” after being run over this Saturday, along with two other cyclists, by a car that fled, so he is still scared and “wanting” to forget what happened.

“It could be better, I’m still scared and wanting to forget it. If everything goes well and I can continue training in good conditions, I’ll be in San Sebastian, Burgos and La Vuelta,” he explained on Wednesday.

Valverde was filming on Alcantarilla Avenue, in the district of Jabalí Viejo (Murcia), when he was run over and later transferred by ambulance to receive medical assistance. Once in the hospital, he remained under observation for 24 hours.

The individual who ran over the group of cyclists with his vehicle was arrested and this Monday he was handed over to the head of the Court of Instruction number 3 of Murcia, who decreed provisional detention for the driver and agreed to the intervention of the vehicle he was driving and the withdrawal of the precautionary driving license.

Now, the Movistar team cyclist will continue “if all goes well” his preparation for La Vuelta a España, which will take place from August 19 to September 11.
