Alejandro Martínez gets the bronze in the CRI kilometer of the Glasgow Nations Cup

MADRID, 22 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish cyclist Alejandro Martínez won the bronze medal in the CRI kilometer test on Friday during the second day of the Track Cycling Nations Cup, which is being held at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome in Glasgow.

Martínez started the day in fourth place thanks to a time of 1:00.754 after setting the fastest time in the first three sets.

In the afternoon session, the Spanish sprinter once again offered a high level and was able to storm the podium after stopping the clock in 1:00.832, while the victory went to the Colombian Cristian David Ortega (1:00.325) and the silver for the Frenchman Melvin Landerneau, who completed the kilometer in 1:00.700.

“I knew that I could have some option if I kept the times from the morning and the Japanese gave way. The Colombian and the French, the two cyclists who finished ahead, were unattainable today and getting this third position is very exciting. I trusted, I knew that this could be the good one and that it was a great opportunity to get a medal and finally we have it with us”, Martínez said in statements offered by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.

In addition, the day also provided the dispute for the Elimination finals, for which Tania Calvo and Sebastián Mora got the pass in the morning qualifiers, while Helena Casas -in the Individual Speed- agreed to the round of 32 and Erik Martorell – in the Individual Pursuit – finished twenty-fifth.
