Alejandra Prat talks about her brother Federico’s “family drama”: “It’s hard”

The brother of the presenter and the journalist suffers from an addiction problem: “I don’t know if it helps or not, but, having him at home, we know what it is, a family drama,” Alejandra explained this week in Lectures.

They are not only worried about Federico, who lives in Palma, but also his mother, Marianne Sandberg. It is not easy for her: “As siblings it is hard, but I think of my mother and everything she has had to live through. She has been an incredibly strong widow, but with my brother already… Come on, I admire her deeply !”.

On the other hand, about how they weathered the media storm a few months ago, he added: “We thought that the best thing was to face it directly when it came out publicly and not wait for more comments to come out. A lot of people wrote to us and I was shocked by the number of people who someone close to you has this problem, how serious it is and how affordable it is to get into drugs or alcohol, because alcoholism is another big problem. I don’t know if they fall into it due to lack of information or vulnerability”.

Alejandra, Andrea and Joaquín Prat’s brother lives in La Línea (Cádiz), in a small rented apartment. According to his family, he has not been helped by them. The relationship between Federico and his brothers went awry just two years ago, as there are graphic documents that prove Federico’s presence at important family moments, such as his sisters’ weddings or his nephews’ communions. In fact, the marine spent confinement in Madrid with his mother, Marianne, and on April 17, 2020, he participated in a family call to congratulate Joaquín Prat, who was presenting at the time four a day and had a birthday.


In August of this year, Joaquín and his brothers issued a statement on his brother’s situation: “For more than 12 years my mother and we as brothers have tried to help him, accompanying him in numerous rehabilitation treatments, centers of all kinds and also at home.
