Former Barcelona player Aleix Vidal, who terminated his contract by mutual agreement with Sevilla, is one of the options that Jorge Jesús uses to reinforce Benfica's right lane next season, according to the Portuguese press.
An information published this Monday in the Portuguese sports newspaper ‘O Jogo’ highlights the winger and winger from Tarragona as one of the firm bets of Jorge Jesús for the Lisbon champion. Benfica has Gilberto and Diogo Gonçalves for that position and the arrival of Aleix Vidal would give them a leap in quality and the possibility of exploiting the scheme of three center-backs and two lanes with which Jorge Jesús finished last season.
Aleix Vidal had one more year of contract at Sevilla, to which he returned in a second stage after his successful emergence in the 14-15 season, when he reached absolute internationality with Spain and earned a name at the international level from the hand of Unai Emery, winning a Europa League title in Warsaw against Dnipro. The winger who came to Nervión from Almería was transferred to Barcelona for about 18 million euros.
The big problem for Benfica may be the player's salary, who will negotiate as a free agent, but has a high record inherited from his time at Barcelona. Last season he played 19 games for Sevilla.
