Alec Baldwin will be charged with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting that ended the life of the ‘Rust’ cinematographer

the nightmare of Alec Baldwin for the shot that caused the death of the cinematographer of Rust, Halyna Hutchins, does not come to an end. Santa Fe District Attorney, Mary Carmack-Altwiesannounced this Thursday that he will file charges against the famous actor for involuntary manslaughter.

He will also file charges against the gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, in charge of supervising the weapons used in the filming. For her part, the film’s first assistant director, Dave Halls, has agreed to plead guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon. Halls handed Baldwin, star and producer, the gun that eventually went off.

The events occurred on October 21, 2021 during a rehearsal on the filming set of Rust and, since then, several lawsuits have been filed, including by members of the team accusing the production of not complying with security protocols. Baldwin himself, who claims not to be responsible for what happened, sued the gunsmith and several members of the team for negligence.

On the other hand, the Hutchins family reached an agreement with the actor and the producers in October. They were released from the wrongful death lawsuit. The film will also resume filming this January. At the same time, the husband of the late Hutchins, Matthewhas become executive producer.
