The Alcorcón Sports Group announced on Tuesday the dismissal of Jorge Romero and his coaching staff after the poor run of results that kept the bottom team in the Smartbank League and has confirmed the hiring of Fran Fernández to be the new tenant of the potter’s bench.
He will be the third coach of ‘Alcor’ this season after Juan Antonio Anquela, who started the course, and Jorge Romero during the last month and a half. However, he could not straighten the course of the team, which is still in decline and 7 points from salvation.
“The club appreciates their great effort, contributions and commitment to both the first team and the club as a whole during this stage with the first team, in which they have shown great professionalism,” said the club.

Fran Fernández, a 41-year-old from Almeria, led Almería in Segunda four seasons ago, Alcorcón in the 2019/2020 season and, later, Tenerife. “He returns to our entity to become, once again, a coach of the first team. Together with Héctor Berenguel and José Miguel Marcos, he signs for this campaign and will sit on the bench in Thursday’s game against Girona,” the club reported south of Madrid.
