Alcaraz runs over Bautista in Indian Wells

MADRID, 14 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Murcian tennis player Carlos Alcaraz took this Monday with authority the duel against his compatriot Roberto Bautista in the third round of the Indian Wells tournament (United States), the first Masters 1,000 of the season and which is played on a hard court, after winning two sets 6-2, 6-0 in just over an hour.

The match between the fifteenth and the nineteenth of the ATP ranking was not as even as expected, especially because of Juan Carlos Ferrero’s pupil, very inspired from the beginning and who signed a great match to deactivate and completely throw the Castellón native off center .

This was always in tow on the scoreboard from the start and he barely had any chance against the rest against a devastating Alcaraz with his ‘drive’, with which he landed 19 of his 29 winning shots, for only seven unforced errors, only one in the first sleeve.

The 18-year-old from El Palmar already began dominating the first set thanks to the ‘break’ on Bautista’s first serve and although the one from Castellón had his only opportunity to break in the next game to equalize, he was unable to take advantage of it and he could barely disturb his rival’s serve.

Alcaraz broke again, blank, in the fifth game to undermine the morale of his compatriot and he no longer had any complications to close the first set. In the second the reaction of the 15 in the world was expected, but the Murcian did not give him respite at any time and endorsed him a hard 6-0 to leave him out of the tournament. In the next round, he will face Russian number one Daniil Medvedev or Frenchman Gael Monfils.
