Alcaraz returns to action defending his title in Buenos Aires

MADRID, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz will return to action this Thursday after his elimination in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open with his debut in the Buenos Aires tournament, scoring for the ATP, which is played on clay and where he defends his title.

The Murcian was eliminated on January 24 in the first 'Grand Slam' of the season by the German Alexander Zverev and three weeks later he resumes his season, starting in 2023 on the red clay South American tour where he will play, in addition to the Argentine capital, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), where he was a finalist last year.

The one from El Palmar, number two in the world, starts in Buenos Aires as the rival to beat in a tournament where he will debut against the local Camilo Ugo Carabelli. The Argentine player, 24 years old and 134th in the world, arrives at the duel with more rhythm on land after entering the final draw from the previous round and having surpassed the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas.

From there, the path does not seem excessively complicated (Laszlo Djere, Nicolás Jarry, Tomás Martín Etcheverry or the veteran Stan Wawrinka) until a possible repetition of last year's final against the British Cameron Norrie, second seed in the tournament and favorite on the other side of the table.

“My level of play is good, I find myself playing with a lot of confidence and at a good level. I come from playing good tennis in Australia, the days of training on land have been very good and I am feeling physically very good, at a tennis level very high and we will see how we do,” Alcaraz warned about his presence in Buenos Aires.
