Alcaraz: “My dream is to be number one in the world and I will work hard for it”

MADRID, 14 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, who on Saturday was crowned in the ‘Next Gen ATP Finals’ after beating the American Sebastian Korda, has recognized that his “dream” is to be “number one in the world” and that he will work “hard” to achieve it, although there are still “many things to improve”.

“Great players like Stefanos or Jannik have won this tournament, but it is useless if you do not accompany it with the work and discipline that comes with fulfilling your dream. My dream is to be number one in the world and I will work hard for it. Beyond win this tournament or not, I’m still focused on my goal, which is to be world number one, “he said in statements collected by the ATP.

The Murcian has gone this year from being number 141 in the world to 32, and acknowledged that he feels “great”. “It is fantastic to finish the season winning this title. I have played great games against good players, so it is the perfect closing of the year,” he said after his victory at the Allianz Cloud in Milan.

“It has been a great season for me and I am very happy for the moments that I have lived. The victory against Tsitsipas in the US Open, reaching the quarter-finals in a ‘Grand Slam’, winning my first ATP title … This It would not be possible without the experience I have had in other tournaments, such as playing against Rafa in Madrid or in Acapulco with Zverev. The games I have been playing have given me experience to be more mature, “he continued.

The 18-year-old tennis player, however, believes he still has “a lot to improve.” “Within a game there can be ups and downs on my part and on the part of the other player. Many things can happen. But we are all at a high level and my responsibility is to be very focused in each game to be able to beat this type of player”, explained Juan Carlos Ferrero’s ward.

“Winning the Next Gen ATP Finals this year gives me a lot of motivation for next year. I want to keep improving. Next year’s ATP Finals are going to be a very cool and very difficult goal. I would say almost impossible, but we will fight and we will work to achieve it, “he concluded.
