Alcaraz: “Marozsan forced me to play badly, he played a splendid game”

MADRID, 15 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz acknowledged that the Hungarian Fabian Marozsan defeated him this Monday in the third round of the Masters 1,000 in Rome after playing “a splendid match” and in which, above all, he “forced him to play badly”, and assured that now he will rest a few days before starting to prepare for the assault on Roland Garros, the second ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, where he does not think it will change too much to reach number one.

“He put me in uncomfortable conditions, forced me to play badly. He played a splendid game and above all he knew how to maintain his level throughout the game, something that is not easy for a boy who comes from the Challengers,” Alcaraz said in statements collected through the tournament website.

The Murcian insisted that he did not have “the best day”. “At one point I really didn’t know what to do. Juan Carlos (Ferrero, his coach) told me to try to get more into the exchange, but the fact is that I simply couldn’t,” he lamented.

The champion in Madrid and Barcelona acknowledged that he did not know his rival “much”. “I had only followed some of his results in the Challengers and I knew he could play well, but I was surprised to see the level he can have, which is really very, very high. If he continues like this, he will enter the ‘Top 100’ soon.” warned.

“I fought and could have won the second set because I found myself just a few points from the third and then 4-1 in the tiebreaker. But that was not enough, small details made the difference in their favor,” added Alcaraz.

Now, the Spanish tennis player is going “to rest for a few days” before facing Roland Garros. “That always helps. Then I’ll go home to train to be perfectly prepared for Paris. Being the number one seed will be a new experience, but very challenging. On the other hand, little will change because it certainly won’t help me win games.” , sentenced.
