Alcaraz is left without an end in Buenos Aires

The Murcian lost in the semis 7-6(2) and 6-3 against Nicolás Jarry

MADRID, 18 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz was eliminated this Saturday – early in the morning in Spain – in the semifinals of the Buenos Aires (Argentina) tournament, in the ATP 250 category and which is played on clay, after losing 7-6(2). ) and 6-3 against the Chilean Nicolás Jarry.

At the facilities of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, Alcaraz ran into an inspired rival from the baseline. Although the Murcian showed a great performance at the service, he barely bothered the Chilean in the remains. Neither of them gave up a single break point in the first set, so starting sudden death with momentum seemed vital.

And just at that moment, when almost no one expected it, Alcaraz made a double fault on the first serve. From there, and despite equalizing the score (1-1), El Palmar was never ahead again in that tough tie-break. With this, Jarry closed the inaugural sleeve in his favor.

The dynamics of the match, however, changed as soon as the next set began. Alcaraz went 0-40 and broke serve on the second attempt, but Jarry returned the break right after. He increased the intensity of both of their games with his 'drive', although the Murcian was on the wire as his opponent gained the affection of the stands.

In the sixth game Alcaraz saved a 30-40, although in the eighth there was an identical situation and his rival did convert his break ball. In the next game, with the Chilean serving to win, the best of each tennis player came out. On the one hand, Alcaraz survived on the basis of ingenuity, including a lob from afar; and on the other hand, Jarry recovered from a double fault that had cost him the first match point.

At the second opportunity that the Chilean had to close the victory, his pulse no longer trembled after almost two hours of battle. Alcaraz thus said goodbye to a tournament where he was defending the title won in 2023. Now Jarry will play this year's final against the Argentine Facundo Díaz Acosta, executioner of his compatriot Federico Coria 6-2 and 6-3.
