The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has become this Sunday the first player qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, which are held from November 12 to 19 at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, after beating the Serbian Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and lifting his second ‘Grand Slam’ title.
Carlos Alcaraz, who has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals for the second consecutive year, retains his lead in the ATP rankings with 9,675 points ahead of Novak Djokovic (8,795) and Daniil Medvedev (6,520), second and third, respectively.
The next ranked Spaniard is Pablo Carreño, absent from the London tournament, ranked 22nd, while Rafa Nadal, away from the slopes for months, ranked 140th.
Alcaraz begins his 29th week in first place this Monday.
At just 20 years old, the Murcian has already held the world number one position for longer than others such as Mats Wilander (20 weeks), Daniil Medvedev (16), Andy Roddick (13), Boris Becker (12) and his coach, the also Spanish Juan Carlos Ferrero (8).
In addition, the Murcian is currently the leader of the Carrera A Turín, escorted by the Serb, who determines the qualifiers for the ATP Finals and who remains number one in the world at the end of the year.
