PARIS, Sep. 8 (by EUROPA PRESS special correspondent Ramón Chamorro) –
Asturian athlete Alberto Suárez won the 40th medal for the national delegation at the Paris Paralympic Games this Sunday by being crowned runner-up in the T12 class marathon event for disabled athletes.
The 46-year-old marathon runner, who won gold in London 2012 and silver in Rio 2016, ran an intelligent race and, although two rivals had gone ahead of him, he managed to hold on to overtake Moroccan El Amin Chentouf in the kilometres and pull away from Russian Denis Gavrilov to take silver, 1:57 behind the also Moroccan and great dominator of the race, Wajdi Boukhili.
