Alberto Ginés wins his second bronze in the European Climbing

The Extremaduran climbs to the podium in the block + difficulty test

MADRID, 18 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish climber Alberto Ginés won his second bronze medal on Thursday at the European Climbing Championship, which is being held in Munich (Germany), after getting on the podium in the combined difficulty, a test that will be Olympic from Paris 2024.

The champion in Tokyo 2020, who was already bronze last Sunday in the difficulty test, repeated the feat this Thursday in the combined with a total of 151.7 points, being only surpassed by the Czech Adam Ondra (170.8) and by Austrian Jakob Schubert, gold with a score of 175.6.

Alberto Ginés, who was silver in the 2019 European Championship, continues with his promising career after astonishing last summer with his gold at the Tokyo Olympics and the comeback achieved this afternoon in Munich, where he had to build a first sector with quite a few difficulties.

His 61.7 points placed him in fifth position and with almost no chance of fighting for the podium. It got more complicated when the Italian Filip Schenk invited himself to the party and surprised with the climb on the second wall. Alberto was obliged to make an almost flawless ascent and he did so.

Only two plates resisted Ginés, who conquered a very elaborate bronze and left the Italian with honey on his lips. The 151.7 points -the third best mark of the day- were enough to step on the podium and achieve a new success at 19 years old.
