Albert Ramos loses the final in Gstaad with problems in his left foot

The Catalan, who was looking for the fifth title of his record on Swiss soil, fell 3-6, 6-0 and 7-5 against the Argentine Pedro Cachín

MADRID, 23 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Albert Ramos, suffering from chafing and blistering problems on his left foot, lost this Sunday 3-6, 6-0 and 7-5 against the Argentine Pedro Cachín in the final of the Gstaad (Switzerland) tournament, of the ATP 250 category and which is played on clay.

Ramos, currently ranked 79th in the world ranking and champion of this event in the 2019 edition, was looking for the fifth title of his record. For his part, Cachín had stood on the track of the Roy Emerson Arena to play his first final on the ATP professional circuit.

The Catalan started the duel well, saving two ‘break’ options in the second game and breaking him in the third (1-2). He immediately consolidated such an advantage (1-3) and also enjoyed two break balls in the fifth (2-3). After keeping his subsequent services without hassle, the Barcelonan broke in the ninth and closed the set in his favor in 50 minutes.

However, Cachín completely changed the dynamics in the second set. Not surprisingly, the Argentine improved his rally from the bottom of the court and broke his opponent’s serve twice, consolidating those gains (4-0). In the fifth game, suffering from his foot ailment, Ramos again conceded another ‘break’ and requested medical assistance.

After the break, Cachín fastened the second set for his locker in half an hour. Although the start of the third quarter predicted little battle for the Barcelonan, conceding a quick break (2-0), the contest was equalized in the eighth game (4-4). But in the eleventh, the Cordovan accelerated to break again (6-5) and seal his first ATP title.
