MADRID, 15 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Granada CF did not get off to a good start in their attempt to return to LaLiga EA Sports as soon as possible and were defeated 1-2 at Nuevo Los Cármenes by an effective Albacete Balompié on Thursday, in the match that opened the 2024-2024 LaLiga Hypermotion season.
The Granada team started the new season as it ended the previous one, with defeat, and has had its sixth consecutive defeat since the disastrous final stretch in the First Division after a match where it did not take advantage of its dominance in the first half.
The home side started well and dominated an Albacete side that preferred to wait and defended in an orderly manner. However, they could not avoid conceding the 1-0 in a free kick by centre-back Miguel Rubio, which rewarded their best and most ambitious start.
But Granada ended up paying for their mistakes when they sought the break to regain their strength and conceded two goals. Jon Morcillo equalised in the 42nd minute, and in added time, Higinio Martín turned the score around by not missing a penalty. Trailing behind, the Granada team tried in the second half and dominated again and had the best chances, although they were unable to convert any of them against Raúl Lizoaín.
