The Spanish Aitana Bonmatí, Esther González, Olga Carmona, Salma Paralluelo, Patricia Guijarro and Mapi León have been nominated this Tuesday in the category of Best Player at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai 2023, according to the list of 20 soccer players announced by the Globe entity Soccer, organizer of the award.
Following the World Cup held last summer in Australia and New Zealand, with an unparalleled media impact compared to previous editions, the title won in Sydney by the Spanish team continues to give good news to its members.
Bonmatí, undisputed holder of the ‘Red’ and brand new Ballon d’Or 2023, is among the favorites to win this other award. Alexia Putellas, also a culé, will not be eligible, whose very long knee injury prevented her from being seen on the playing fields for many months of the 2022/23 season.
In the absence of Putellas, Bonmatí stood out even more in the Spanish team and in FC Barcelona, acting as a beacon to win the Women’s Champions League along with the domestic titles of League F and the Spanish Super Cup. Olga Carmona, Real Madrid full-back and heroine of the Spanish team in Sydney with her key goals, is nominated as is forward Esther González (Gotham FC), world champion on Australian soil. The Swedish striker Fridolina Rolfö and the English goalkeeper Mary Earps are the presumed rivals of the Spanish soccer players.
In the category of Best Women’s Club, without Real Madrid – as occurs in the men’s distinction -, the nominees are: Ajax Amsterdam, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich, SL Benfica, Chelsea FC, Olympique Lyonnais, Portland Thorns, AS Roma and VfL Wolfsburg.
