The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens 17–10 in the AFC championship game on Sunday in Baltimore and are now going to the Super Bowl for the fourth installment of five years.

The five-time champion 49ers came back from being down 17 points at halftime in the NFC championship game.

They scored every time they were given the ball in the second half, except for the last few plays when they were trying to run out the clock. They won by a score of 34–31.

On Sunday, the Chiefs were back in the AFC title game, which they had been to six times in a row in quarterback Patrick Mahomes in charge.

He has won two Super Bowls, two NFL MVP awards, and two league Most Valuable Player awards during that time. Mahomes’s time has been marked by winning big games.

Before the playoffs, Mahomes had to deal with a lot of doubts about whether he was going to be able to repeat his past playoff performances now that he would have to play games away from Arrowhead Stadium.

Mahomes has led his team to at least the playoffs for the AFC championship in each of his six years as a starter.

And, as strange as it may sound, he had never played in a playoff game on the road before last week’s win over the Bills by the Chiefs.

It is unique. He said at a news conference after the game, “To do it with these guys following what we’ve been through all season, the guys getting together, it’s really special.”

“Told them the job wasn’t done. Now it’s time to get ready for the Super Bowl and face a good football team. Let’s try to win that ring!

After beating the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 for the AFC Championship, Kansas City will go to the second straight Super Bowl. This will be the team’s fourth trip to the NFL’s title game within the last five seasons.

Patrick Mahomes as well as Lamar Jackson, two of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, played each other on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

After the Ravens’ first drive stopped in a three-and-out, the game looked like it could become a barn burner.

On the following two possessions, both teams scored touchdowns. After 10 plays and 86 yards, the Chiefs scored when star tight end Travis Kelce caught a touchdown pass.

The Ravens quickly tied the game with a six-play drive that included a 30-yard pass in Jackson to Xavian Flowers. The drive took just over twenty-five minutes.

After that, the Chiefs planned a long touchdown drive that took 16 plays and nine minutes of game time.

With 10:56 left in the second quarter, Isiah Pacheco scored a touchdown run of two yards, putting the Chiefs ahead 17–7. It was the last touchdown made by either team.

The defense was strong the rest of the game, and chances were missed. Jackson was stripped bare on the Ravens’ next drive, and the Chiefs recovered the ball at their 33-yard line.

Even though Kansas City had great field position, they didn’t score on their next drive because they failed to convert upon a 4th and 1 run.

After that, each team punted on the following three drives up until the Chiefs made a 56-yard touchdown kick to end the half.

Even though the Ravens were having trouble, the Chiefs’ offense also couldn’t get anything going after halftime.

The Ravens lost because they lost two important turnovers within the second half. First, Flowers lost the ball on the first play of the fourth quarter, just as he was about to cross the plane for a touchdown. The Chiefs instead picked up the ball in the end zone for a touchback.

Jackson threw a good pass to Isaiah Likely on 2nd as well as 10 from the Kansas City 25-yard line, but Likely was well covered and the pass was picked away in the endzone. This ended the Ravens’ next drive.

With just 2:34 left in the fourth quarter, Justin Tucker kicked a 43-yard field goal to pull the Ravens within seven points. That was the only score in the second half.

The Ravens’ offense never got the ball again, though, because Mahomes threw a 32-yard pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling on 3rd and 9. This gave the Chiefs a fresh set of downs be the game wound down to the two-minute warning.
