Advíncula clears doubts and claims its place in El Rayo

After his substitution against Zaragoza, the Peruvian Luis Advíncula returned to the starting team the last day against the Alcorcón to dispel doubts with a performance publicly praised by his coach, Andoni Iraola, and in which he had a leading role with a goal assist.

A few weeks ago, Advíncula revealed that he was working with a psychologist to improve his performance because, at times, mentally he would leave the games and that situation led to frustration.

The bad streak that his team went through during February and most of March, with five consecutive games without winning, it affected Advíncula, who had defensive errors that cost his team goals and even ended up losing ownership.

His position in the eleven was recovered in the Madrid derby against Alcorcón, against which he played the ninety minutes, he had a prominent role in defense and in attack he contributed a goal assist -the third of the season- to his partner Yacine Qasmi.

Advincula has been good, has given an assist and has played a good game, “he said Iraola, at the end of the game, aware that he needs the best version of the Peruvian to regain the defensive strength of the beginning of the season.

Until the game against Alcorcón, Rayo had nine games in a row without leaving a clean sheet, a record that was weighing heavily on the team's performance to the point that a stumble in Santo Domingo would have taken him out of the promotion positions he has held for thirteen days.

With his performance against Alcorcón, Advíncula claimed just a few days after playing the distraction and leaving the door open to a possible departure of the Madrid team to play for Boca Juniors.

“There is nothing, they are just rumors in the press, but I am open to an improvement in my career. I have no problem returning to Argentine football. I have fond memories of the country and going to play an international tournament any player likes. One in what is work wants to improve, “he said in his interview with Olé.

Even so, The Peruvian side has a contract with Rayo until 2022 and he has also reiterated on occasions that he is “happy” in Madrid. Ahead is the challenge of trying to return this season to Primera, a category that you already know from the 2018/2019 campaign.

Advíncula adds 1,990 minutes of play this campaign and he is the fourth most used player on the Rayista squad this course, only surpassed by Alejandro Catena (2,711), Álvaro García (2,467) and Fran García (2,353).
