Adriana Cerezo: “Now I am certain that I can win”

MADRID, 30 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Taekwondo player Adriana Cerezo, silver in the Tokyo 2020 Games, said that she has gained confidence due to the Olympic runner-up and the recent continental title, although she believes that she has “one more” left to give in Paris 2024, where she is confident that they will surpass themselves. the 22 medals from Barcelona’92.

After participating in the renewal of Lotteries with the ADO program together with the president of the betting organization, Jesús Huerta; the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco; the general director of Sports of the CSD, Fernando Molinero; and the paddler Saúl Craviotto, Adriana Cerezo assured that he has lived the entire Olympic cycle “with great enthusiasm.”

“But now that you see that it’s getting closer, those nerves and a lot of desire begin to appear. We’ve been dreaming about it for a while now and we’re going to make it a reality. Now it’s a matter of time, of waiting for the moment to come and enjoying it,” he said.

For Adriana Cerezo, the ADO scholarships are not important but “essential.” “I love that my life can be sport, but as long as it is at this level we can afford it because ADO is and exists, which helps us both on a personal level and in our preparation and technical equipment,” she said.

Cerezo “yes” believes it is possible for Spanish athletes to beat the record of 22 medals in the Games. “We are all calling for it in the end because we are seeing it as possible. A lot of help and support has emerged so that this can be fulfilled. The Olympic Committee has been putting everything and more so that this can be fulfilled and I do believe it. No matter where I look in In all sports I see great references and a lot of possibilities. Let’s hope that we can also contribute our part to that medal table,” he hoped.

For the taekwondo player from Alcala, women must “continue adding” and she highlighted the importance of women’s sports receiving the same support as men’s sports. “There comes a point at which it will end up equalizing. Right now it is the girls who are pulling the car and tomorrow it could be the boys, but the important thing is that this support remains nameless and for all the athletes who pursue their dream,” she stressed.

From the Tokyo 2020 Games to the present, the excitement and desire are the “same.” “The dream is the same, but what has changed is that I have a little more experience having experienced big events and having been riding with the best in the world. In Tokyo I was caught a little by surprise and now we are certain that we can achieve it,” he compared.

“LEARN BY WINNING, THE BETTER”

He recalled that it is always said that ‘to learn you have to lose’. “But if we can learn by winning, the better. We learn from all situations and what we have taken from the European Championship is that we have achieved an incredible result. Being European champion again is a dream and something brutal, but there is still a lot of room for improvement “he assured.

In this sense, he argued that in training he is “giving 200 percent.” “In the competition we can still give even a little more. It’s very cool to know that we are achieving important things but that we still have a little more to give,” she said.

On the other hand, Cerezo celebrated feeling “liberated” after having concluded the exams for the third year of the Criminalistics degree at the UCAM this Wednesday.

“Now I am the happiest person in the world and I only think about the Olympic Games. For me it is very important to be able to do both things at the same time. Sport is my life and 24 hours a day I focus on this, in taekwondo and the Olympics, but having other concerns, knowing that in the end this is not football and tomorrow you get injured, makes you think about having a future,” he said.

In fact, he did not rule out following in the footsteps of Saúl Craviotto because he really likes the State Security Forces and Corps. “I don’t know if I’ll end up going there because my sports career and work come to a point when they overlap,” he said.
