Adriana Cerezo: “I am going to Paris to achieve that dream that was so close in Tokyo”

“I have to think about what’s coming and keep adding”

MADRID, 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Olympic runner-up and number 1 in the Olympic ranking of taekwondo Adriana Cerezo assures that she will go to the next event in Paris 2024 with the intention of taking a step forward and achieving the gold medal, learning from mistakes like the one she had in the last World Cup in the specialty.

“Making a good performance and getting the results I want is going to lead me to qualify for the Olympic Games. And if I’m there I’m going to go for everything, to achieve that dream that was so close in Tokyo”, acknowledged the taekwondo athlete in Statements provided by HSN.

Cerez, Olympic runner-up in Tokyo 2020 and just 19 years old, was also bronze in the last European Championship and is nicknamed ‘Wonder Girl’, especially after winning that silver medal in the -49 kilos category at the last Olympic event from the Japanese capital.

“The memory of the Olympic Games is a lot of mixed feelings. I always say that I lived the best and the worst day of my life. Going to the Games is already fulfilling a dream. Winning the semifinals and touching a medal was the best , but losing the dream of every athlete, having it so close, hurts a lot,” he acknowledged.

In this sense, he qualified that with time everything is valued more and better. “Then you assess and obviously I am very happy with what I have achieved, but I have that stab that I do not take away, but that is also necessary to continue hungry for the next Olympic Games,” she reiterated.

Cerezo, a member of the HSN Team of the sports nutrition and healthy eating brand that sponsors her, assured that there is still a long way to go until Paris 2024 and that her closest goals will be the Grand Prix Final this December and the Baku 2023 World Cup. which will be “key”.

And it is that in the World Cup in Mexico this month it was eliminated in the quarterfinals, and the appointment was not as expected. “It was the great objective of the year and it has not gone as expected. I am lucky that I have other very important championships, like the Grand Prix Final, which even gives more points for the Olympic ranking. Right now I have to think about what is coming and continue adding. I can not stop me in the error of the World-wide”, recognized.

However, this year’s assessment is good, with 9 medals won. “I have made my debut in many championships that I had not had the opportunity before the Games because I did not enter the category. I am very happy with the results. We are doing a good job and I hope that it will also be reflected in everything that is to come, since it is a very long process”, he predicted.
