The midfielder and captain of Dinamo Zagreb, Adrijan Ademi, has suffered a foot injury, becoming the third player in his club with problems to play against him on Thursday. Villarreal, in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
“His foot is painful, swollen,” explained the “Blues” coach, Damir Krznar, after the match against Lokomotiva, also in Zagreb, in which Dinamo triumphed 0-2, with goals from Josko Gvardiol and Iyayi Atiemwen.
However, Krznar did not rule out that Ademi could recover until Thursday and play for Villarreal.
“We still have to see, he will have to take X-rays. We hope we can have it for Spain,” he said.
Ademi, a North Macedonia international, was voted best player in the Croatian first league of 2020 by the club captains.
His injury is added to that of the Swiss international “Super” -Mario Gavranovic, who did not play last Thursday in Zagreb, when Dinamo lost 0-1 against Villarreal, and of the Croatian Bruno Petkovic, with a dislocated shoulder, who entered the I play 30 minutes before the end.
Krznar confirmed that Gavranovic will also not be able to play at Villareal this Thursday, and that Petkovic will travel in case he recovers in time.
“Petkovic is improving. He will travel with us to Spain and then we will see there on the ground if we are going to use him. We travel there full of hope to achieve another surprise,” said the coach in reference to the triumph (3-0) against Tottenham.
