Acosta opens in fourth position and behind Foggia his assault on the Moto3 title

Quartararo celebrates the title being the fastest in MotoGP and Fernández was the best in Moto2

BARCELONA, 5 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The French rider Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) in MotoGP, the Spanish Raúl Fernández (Kalex) in Moto2 and the Italian Romano Fenati (Husqvarna) in Moto3 were the fastest on Friday in the Algarve Grand Prix, the penultimate date of a World Championship that He is still looking for champions in the intermediate and small category.

In Moto3 there was a first duel between the Spanish Pedro Acosta (KTM) and the Italian Dennis Foggia (Honda) for the World Championship. At the moment, Foggia opens more gas than the Murcian and if this result is repeated on Sunday it would cut distance in the Championship, which would close in Cheste.

The leader of the day was Romano Fenati (Husqvarna), with a time of 1: 49.479 registered in the second round. A FP2 in which Fenati improved the fastest time in FP1, marked by a Foggia who, in the global count, was the second driver in the table 15 thousandths of his compatriot.

Behind Fenati and Foggia was the Spanish Jaume Masià (KTM), who surpassed by 9 thousandths his teammate in the Red Bull KTM Ajo and aspiring world champion Pedro Acosta, fourth ahead of also Spanish Adrián Fernández (Husqvarna ).

Pedro Acosta, with Mazarrón on his side virtually and all the Spanish fans behind him, can sentence the World Cup and not play it at Cheste’s letter, where obviously he would be the favorite for the stands. But, in Portimao, you can win the scepter if you score 5 more points than Foggia. If you win the race, you will be champion whatever your rival does.

There is also fighting in Moto2, and a lot of tension and nerves. So much so that, with the FP2 checkered flag, leader Remy Gardner (Kalex) ate Marcos Ramírez and they both went to the ground. Motorcycles wrecked but both were unharmed. A curious way to defend your ‘match ball’ for the title.

And it is that the Australian Remy Gardner adds 280 points, 18 more than his teammate Raúl Fernández and with Marco Bezzecchi, third, already ruled out. It will be a heads up between boxers and two cards.

So far, the Spaniard was the fastest this Friday, with Gardner third behind Sam Lowes (Kalex), who was among the contenders. Fernández dominated the afternoon session practically in its entirety, until stopping the clock at 1: 43.246.

For his part, the flaming world champion in MotoGP Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) was the fastest this Friday in the premier class and, with a 1: 39.390, once again celebrated on the asphalt the triumph achieved in Misano, in the previous appointment of the Emilia-Romagna.

Quartararo surpassed Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by more than one tenth and Jack Miller (Ducati) by just over two tenths, who were the closest to that best time. The Spanish Joan Mir (Suzuki) and Pol Espargaró (Repsol Honda) completed the ‘Top 5’ on Friday.

Without Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), winner of the last two races and now at home after falling while doing motocross, his brother Álex Márquez (Honda) made a great start to the weekend, seventh, while Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) continues to pull strong and was eighth, with Álex Rins (Suzuki) tenth closing the provisional pass to Q2.
