Acosta and Masià reign in India and lead in Moto2 and Moto3

The one from Algemesí shares co-leadership with Dani Holgado in the small category

MADRID, 24 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Pedro Acosta (Kalex) won this Sunday the Moto2 race of the Indian Grand Prix, the thirteenth round of the motorcycle World Championship, and has consolidated his status as leader of the intermediate category, while Jaume Masià (Honda ) has won in Moto3 to ascend to co-leadership with Dani Holgado (KTM), fourth this Sunday.

On the first day of racing in history at the Buddh International Circuit, Acosta escaped alone from the beginning to sign his sixth victory of the course in an event plagued by accidents, the first of which raised the red flag and reduced the race is 12 laps.

The Murcian now has a lead of 39 points in the general standings over the second placed, the Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex), who managed to finish second this Sunday just ahead of the American Joe Roberts (Kalex), who deprived Sergio García Dols of the podium ( Kalex) after an intense duel between the two for third place.

The accident caused by Jeremy Alcoba (Kalex) – who received a ‘long lap penalty’ for “irresponsible driving” – shortly after the traffic lights went out forced the action to stop on the Indian route. At the restart, Arón Canet (Kalex) overtook the British Sam Lowes (Kalex) and Alonso López (Boscoscuro) did the same with poleman Jake Dixon (Kalex).

For his part, Manu González (Kalex) made a great comeback from sixteenth to fifth position. Marcos Ramírez (Kalex) was ninth and Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro), Izan Guevara (Kalex) and Albert Arenas (Kalex) – who started last – entered the points by finishing twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth, respectively.

In addition, Borja Gómez (Kalex) was sixteenth and Alonso López twenty-second, while neither Jeremy Alcoba nor Arón Canet managed to finish the event in Buddh.

MASIÀ WINS AND ACHIEVES THE CO-LEADERATE

In Moto3, the Spanish Jaume Masià (Honda) has relaunched his candidacy for the title by winning the test ahead of the Japanese Kaito Toba (Honda) and Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna), a result that allows him to equalize at the top of the World Championship. Pilots to his compatriot Dani Holgado (KTM), who minimized damage by being fourth after starting eighteenth.

Both the man from Algemesí and the man from Alicante have 174 points with seven rounds left to resolve the championship, and behind them, Sasaki has 173, just one of the co-leaders, which suggests an exciting end to the season.

Once the traffic lights were turned off, Masià defended his position as poleman, with Sasaki at his wheel, to begin his exhibition in the first official race of the World Championship on the Indian circuit. The Japanese was losing ground and Toba and the Dutchman Collin Veijer (Husqvarna) hunted him down; In the last lap, the Dutchman fell to the ground after colliding with Sasaki, a circumstance that his compatriot took advantage of to take a juicy second place.

Among the rest of the Spaniards, in addition to Holgado’s fourth place, David Muñoz (KTM) was sixth, Iván Ortolá (KTM) finished eighth, José Antonio Rueda (KTM) finished tenth and Xavi Artigas (CFMoto), twelfth. Out of the points was Ana Carrasco (KTM), nineteenth, while David Salvador (KTM) was the only Spaniard who failed to finish.
