The XII Madrid Carrera on progress against the Cancer ‘dye’ of Green The Paseo de la Castellana of the capital of Spain on March 30 with the aim of reaching 27,000 dorsales and continuing to raise funds for the fight against cancer.
This was announced by the organizers in the official presentation, which was chaired by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, who encouraged the Madrid so that the Paseo de la Castellana be filled with runners and continue to visualize this cause.
“Research is fundamental and, in this sense, the most remarkable among the extraordinary merits of the Spanish Association against Cancer is that there is no public or private institution that contributes more to the fight against this disease,” Martínez-Almeida said.
The vice president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Madrid, Carolina Martínez-Caro, stressed that the goal is to exceed 70% of cancer survival in 2030. “That is why we invite Madrid and Madrid’s so that on March 30 we all run against cancer,” he said.

Emotional accompaniment
In a colloquium on emotional accompaniment in cancer patients, a fundamental pillar in integral treatment, the head of psychosocial care of the Spanish Association against Cancer in Madrid, Vanesa Jorge, has highlighted the importance of psychological support for patients and families.
“Cancer not only affects the body, but also the mind and heart. Therefore, our work is to accompany and relieve that emotional weight,” said Jorge.
Paula Valverde, breast cancer patient, has also participated, who has shared his experience with the association’s programs and his personal challenge: complete the 4.5 kilometers of the race. “The support I have received has been key in my recovery. Now, running this career is a way to show myself what I can with everything,” said Valverde excited.
The career not only seeks to mobilize thousands of people but also boost oncological research. Dr. Neibla Priego, a researcher at the National Center for Oncological Research (CNIO), has highlighted the impact of funds raised on the progress of science.
“Thanks to the support of the association, our team has been able to develop innovative treatments for brain metastases, some of which are already in clinical trials,” said Priego.
With this event, the Spanish Association against Cancer in Madrid again calls for society to join in the fight against the disease.
Registration to races of 4.5 and 10 kilometers and children’s careers remain open, and each number is one more step towards the objective of increasing survival to 70 percent in 2030. The association allocates 143 million euros in 750 cancer research projects in which more than 2,300 researchers participate, thanks to the support of the entire company, of collaborating companies and its 600,000 partners at the national level.
