Abel Antón and Silvia González lead the Aural Team for the Titan Desert 2024

MADRID, 29 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The athlete Abel Antón and the cyclist Silvia González will lead the Aural Centros Auditivos solidarity team for the Titan Desert Marocco 2024 from April 28 to May 3, a project that was presented this Monday at the Higher Sports Council (CSD) with the objective of “inspiring people to take on challenges and overcome adversities” within the framework of 'examples of Aural improvement'.

The general director of Sports of the CSD, Fernando Molinero, the general director of Aural, Juan Ignacio Martínez, the two-time world marathon champion Abel Antón and the founder of 'Cycling for all' were present at the presentation ceremony at the CSD. , Silvia González.

The general director of Sports of the CSD, Fernando Molinero, considers it “a pleasure” to have this project here. “We know the effort behind these projects to move forward. This project is more than a sports initiative, they are a reflection of the human spirit and sport is the best example,” he highlighted.

Silvia's story inspires us all and one of the examples is that this improvement is never achieved alone, to also face the challenge of overcoming such a complex test, where there are more than 600km over 6 days and will begin on April 28. She will also have the support of Abel Antón who will provide the values of the sport and obviously without the help of Aural this would be absolutely impossible,” she added.

The athlete Abel Antón is clear that he “likes” these projects. “Now for the solidarity challenge and that I am going to help Silvia in everything. From the beginning I thought of Aural and we are all going to enjoy together with them. This more than anything is the objective, to help Silvia and it is going to be unforgettable For everyone, it will be an unusual experience,” he said.

“It is difficult to adapt to the bicycle but I think we have a great team. Since 2005, with Aural we have already participated in the New York, Berlin and the Chinese Wall marathons. From the first day this challenge has hooked me and Silvia too. “I have other races like the Seville marathon that I'm going to run with my son, but after that I'll get into cycling because if you don't train you're going to have a bad time,” he said.

The amateur cyclist Silvia González and founder of 'Cycling for all', was diagnosed with cancer and a month ago underwent surgery with a spinal cord transplant, which has not prevented her from continuing with cycling and facing the Titan. “I always see the glass half full, thanks to that fall on the bicycle, I broke my pelvis and they detected cancer, they treated me and I suffered from it again but they told me that it was treatable and that I could continue riding my bike,” he said. .

“You get more tired but in general I have not felt sick. I have made a change in this visibility and also now I feel that I am an example for certain people. I believe that we have to live day to day and what has happened to all of us with the pandemic “I am trying to train as much as I can and the pain in my knees comes from the illness but I know that all this pain is preparing me for the Titan and we are going to overcome the challenges,” he noted.

For his part, the general director of Aural, Juan Ignacio Martínez, assured that he has been “undertaking the Aural Team project since 2005, with Abel Antón as the maximum reference.” “In the fight to remove this hearing stigma, we started this challenge, to try to help these people make the leap. Now we come to present here the project of 'examples of improvement' to explain to society, as through Abel and Silvia, improvement is possible,” he stated.

“This initiative has to have a solidarity motivation and the idea is that they have an extra motivation, and that they exceed their limits such as marathons and stage races. If the test is finished, Aural will allocate a certain solidarity pot and with this we will dedicate it to solidarity work. This time at Titan we are going to test those people who come during our participation and we will help them by giving them hearing aids if they need them,” he confirmed.
