The conflict in Ukraine has made the whole world agree in opposition to the war and in support of the Ukrainian people after the Russian invasion. But there are some gestures that do not follow this line. One of them was that of the Turkish player Aykut Demircaptain of Erzurumspor.
In the Turkish second division match against Ankaragucu, all the players wore a shirt that said ‘No to war’, except for Demir. The player has received a lot of criticism for it and the club is under pressure to sanction him. That is why the footballer himself has wanted to step in to make it clear that he is not in favor of the war in Ukraine, but that he does not agree that other conflicts are not given the same treatment.
“Thousands of people die every day in the Middle East. I also feel bad. I share the pain of innocent people,” he assured in the Turkish media Fanatik. “Those who ignore the persecution are doing these things when it happens in Europe. I don’t like to wear that shirt because it wasn’t made for those countries,” he said.
