A team full of cracks, for all in Poland

Plagued by authentic cracks, the team of the Ramon Llull University of Barcelona will represent Spain in the football tournament of the Lodz European University Games (Poland), which will take place between July 19 and 27 and which awards two places for the Chinese Universiade scheduled for October 2023. In total, 5,000 students from 400 countries will participate in the 2022 European Universities Games (EUG). universities from 40 countries, getting into action in 20 sports in total. The draw for the football tournament will take place this Monday and the group stage matches will be played on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd. The 24th will be a rest day; On the 25th, the quarters will be played, on the 26th, the semis, and on the 27th, the grand final. The top two finishers win a ticket to the aforementioned Chengdu Summer University Games.

Qualifying for China is precisely the great objective of those selected by Rubén García and Josep Maria Roma, technicians in charge of the Ramon Llull team. The team has been chosen for having more outstanding and ‘historical’ players, in this case militants in Catalan football clubs. The youngest are, at 19, Iker Berzosa, goalkeeper for Santfeliuense, and Albert Garcia, from PB Anguera, and at 21, Sergi Vives, from Sant Andreu. It should be noted that the matches of the VI EUG are 70 minutes long and that the official delegation of the Universitat Ramon is also made up of the head of sports, Alex Martín, and the physio Clàudia Vallvé.
